“A Taste of Bread, a Taste of Oil: The Festival of the Extra Vergine Olive Oil  in Gualdo Cattaneo”

The much-awaited annual event “Sapore di Pane, Sapore di Olio” returns to Gualdo Cattaneo, bringing with it the enchantment of extra virgin olive oil and the tradition of white art. The 14th edition of this culinary celebration is a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the fascinating and authentic environment of the production of extra virgin olive oil PDO Umbria and the typical bread of Gualdo Cattaneo.

On Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November, the picturesque Umbrian municipality will be the stage for an extraordinary experience, offering visitors the chance to explore the places and processes of creation of two local culinary symbols: extra virgin olive oil and traditional bread.

The weekend programme is packed with engaging activities, ensuring an experience that will satisfy the senses and soul of those who attend. Initiatives include:

Taste and Crafts Market: a wide variety of local delicacies and products will be available for lovers of good food. The event will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, offering a unique opportunity to purchase local delicacies.

Taste and Oil Mill Tours: offers participants the chance to visit local oil mills and taste the various types of oil and typical products from the farms. Tours will be available both Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Reservation required).

Tour of the Stones of Gualdo Cattaneo: a fascinating tour through the alleys of the historical centre to discover the architectural beauties, offered on Saturday and Sunday at 11.30 a.m., by local experts.

Exploration of the Gualdesi Castles and Trekking among the Olive Trees: an opportunity to explore medieval castles and take a suggestive walk among Umbrian olive groves. (Both routes require booking).

Among the appointments not to be missed, there will be culinary shows such as the show cooking with Giorgione and “Pane e Olio da Record”, where participants will have the opportunity to taste 20 metres of bread and oil, all in the evocative setting of Piazza Umberto I.

“Sapore di Pane, Sapore di Olio” represents not only an occasion for culinary delight but also a celebration of the culture, tradition and authenticity that define Gualdo Cattaneo’s food and wine heritage. It is a total immersion in the very essence of what makes Umbria unique: its extraordinary cuisine and ancient traditions.
